The Best Christmas Light Displays in Paris
The Champs-Élysées & Avenue des Champs-Élysées
The iconic avenue continues its tradition with a breathtaking canopy of lights. For 2025, the city has announced a new energy-efficient LED installation that dynamically changes colour and pattern, synchronised to a bespoke musical score accessible via a dedicated app. The theme is L’Étoile du Futur (The Star of the Future), featuring interactive light sculptures that respond to movement.
The Department Store Facades
The legendary holiday window displays are a not-to-be-missed spectacle.

Galeries Lafayette: The 2025 display, designed in collaboration with the Mobilier National, will transform its iconic dome and windows into a celebration of French textile artistry, with animated scenes crafted from fabric and light.
Printemps Haussmann: Expect a futuristic and sustainable vision titled Noël 2050, using recycled materials and holographic elements to imagine the Christmas of tomorrow.
Notre-Dame de Paris
The completion of the restoration of Notre-Dame will be a central focus of the 2025 season. A special, solemn light projection mapping the cathedral’s façade will tell the story of its phoenix-like rebirth, blending medieval motifs with modern digital artistry. It promises to be a powerful and moving tribute.
The Eiffel Tower & Trocadéro Gardens
While the Eiffel Tower always sparkles, the Trocadéro Gardens become the stage for a magnificent festive village and a stunning light path.
Christmas Lights along the Champs-Élysées
For Paris’s most spectacular holiday light display, a stroll down the Champs-Élysées is essential. Each year, upwards of a million sparkling lights adorn the hundreds of trees lining the famed avenue between the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde.
Lights & Christmas Trees in Place Vendôme
For a scene of elegant, timeless holiday magic, Place Vendôme is unforgettable. The grand 18th-century square, framed by palatial façades housing luxury jewellers and the famed Ritz hotel, is transformed by a breathtaking display of dozens of perfect conical Christmas trees. Each tree glitters with a sophisticated palette of white and blue lights, creating an ethereal, fairy-tale ambiance.
This iconic setting is also the epicenter of Parisian luxury shopping. The boutiques of legendary jewelers like Cartier, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels, and many more line the square and the adjacent Rue de la Paix, offering a dazzling world of holiday gift inspiration.
Avenue Montaigne Christmas Lights
Immerse yourself in pure, sophisticated elegance on Avenue Montaigne. The stately trees lining this iconic street are draped in a breathtaking cloud of delicate white lights, with a subtle shimmer of blue adding to the ethereal glow. Strolling past the ornate mansions housing haute couture showrooms and designer boutiques, you’ll be surrounded by refined holiday magic.
Best tips when visiting Paris in December
Use our handy map with all the most Christmassy spots to visit.
Dress in layers: It is cold, especially in the evenings, and mulled wine won’t keep you warm for long enough, so make sure to wear warm layers. A lot of them.
Time it well: Weeknights are less crowded than weekends. Markets are magical in the late afternoon as the lights turn on.
Travelling around: Use Paris’s excellent Metro system. You can purchase daily, 3-day and weekly pass to save on transportation.
Book ahead: Many associated events, including ice-skating sessions at the Hôtel de Ville or special tours, will require online booking.
Be prepared: If you are travelling with children, make sure you are well prepared. As you will be walking around a lot, bring the right stroller with you. A wagon, like our Wonderfold W4 Pro Luxe 4-Seater, is spacious enough to comfortably carry up to 4 children, blankets to keep them warm and has storage for your water, drinks and snacks. If you are planning to use the metro a lot, a lightweight foldable stroller might be a better option, as the majority of the stations don’t have lifts.
In 2025, Paris reaffirms its status as the winter capital of wonder. Its Christmas markets offer not just gifts, but an entertaining way to spend the day and truly embrace the Christmas spirit. It’s a celebration where history and future sparkle hand in hand, waiting to be discovered.
