North American Adventures – Mendenhall Glacier
Rentcharlie’s peer-to-peer rental services travel all the way across North America from the south most tip of the USA to the great white north of Canada. Our rent anything experience anything model enables In our first edition of North American Adventures we’ll be checking out Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska! This amazing glacier is one of the most popular to visit – let’s dive in!
Wildlife & Shades of Blue
The Mendenhall Glacier is open May through to September. The wildlife is very much alive with mountain goats, beavers, spawning salmon and bears! The spectacular sights of the glacier itself and the icebergs floating in the lake are stunning in good and bad weather. When it’s a bit drizzly out, the glacier will turn a deep shade of blue.
With many hikes from beginner to advanced, the views are breathtaking. A special hike called Nugget Falls Trail leads its travellers to a waterfall that flows into a lake near the face of the Mendenhall Glacier. Another notable hiking trail is the Steep Creek Trail that is a 0.3 mile journey of view points along a boardwalk. There is even dog sledding for the adrenaline seekers.
Visitor Centre & Knowledge
The visitor centre has interactive exhibits, telescopes, and ranger talks. Not to mention the short film titled “Landscapes of Change” that reveals the changing glacial patterns.
This is a destination for those who are intrigued by the north, how glaciers are changing, and how our world is evolving. The first hand experience of viewing and learning about the glacier is an exceptional adventure.
